A&PI Wellness Center celebrated its 4th Annual Asian and Pacific Islander Women & Girl’s Day
Wellness Day on Friday, March 10th with an afternoon of health services and workshops, held in the Banyan Room of the 730 Polk Street, San Francisco office. This event was sponsored in part by the Department of Health & Human Service’s Office of Women’s Health in commemoration of National Women & Girl’s HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. Over sixty-five participants attended, enjoying free ear acupuncture, massage, and HIV testing, as well as workshops on self-defense, complimentary/alternative medicine in HIV care, menstrual pad making, and female sexual health & pleasure. Staff members from a variety of Bay Area organizations providing resources to Asian and Pacific Islander women were also on hand to meet and speak with participants. The highlight for many was the event’s closing entertainment. Participants were treated to a powerful taiko drumming performance by the multi-generational, all-female Heiwa Group, and to a hula performance and lesson by the stunning Ladies of Passion hula group.
