If you want experience in doing community-based research,
you live in San Mateo County, and want to earn some extra cash,
call us!! We will be recruiting members for our Community Working
Group (CWG) in the spring of 2007.
What is the Community Working Group (CWG)?
The CWG is a group of people who will be working with 2 target
populations to implement a community needs assessment. Members
will be responsible for conducting street surveys, helping facilitate
focus groups, and translating materials among other tasks.
What if I don’t have experience in community-based
research?
This is the right place for you to get some basic skills! We will
train all CWG members so they are able to successfully complete
their tasks. CWG members may always ask FLARE staff for help and/or
advice on the data collection process.
What populations is FLARE working with in San Mateo County?
The 2 communities have not been chosen at this time.
Do CWG members get paid?
Yes. Depending on the task that is performed, CWG members get compensated
for their time and effort. However, compensation may not be in
cash, but rather a gift card to the member’s store of choice.
Why else should I participate?
This is a terrific opportunity for anyone who wants to work with
the Asian and Pacific Islander community, conduct research, and
who might have an interest in public health and social justice
issues.
