Asian & Pacific Islander Women’s
Wellness Day Held March 19 in San Francisco

The third annual Asian & Pacific Islander Women’s
Wellness Day, a free event providing health information and
resources to local Asian & Pacific Islander women (biological
and transgendered), will take place on Friday afternoon, March
19, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event is sponsored by Asian
& Pacific Islander Wellness Center, and will be held at
the agency’s San Francisco office, located at 730 Polk
Street, 4th Floor, between Eddy and Ellis Streets. For directions,

The educational event features a mini-health fair with free
acupuncture, massage, pregnancy tests, pap smears, oral HIV
testing and information from health and social service agencies.
Food and entertainment also will be provided.

Asian & Pacific Islander Women’s Wellness Day has
been scheduled to coincide with International Women’s
Day on March 8. This day, established in 1977 by the United
Nations, provides an opportunity to reflect on progress made
to advance women's equality; to assess challenges facing women
in contemporary society; to consider future steps to enhance
the status of women; and to celebrate gains made.
A&PI Wellness Center’s mission is to educate, support,
empower, and advocate for A&PI communities – particularly
A&PIs living with or at-risk for HIV/AIDS. A&PI Wellness
Center is the oldest and most comprehensive non-profit HIV/AIDS
services organization in North America targeting A&PI
communities.
