Center Adds Four Members to Board of Directors

Asian & Pacific Islander Wellness Center (A&PI Wellness
Center) today announced four new members of its board of directors.
They are Denise Albano; Tien Bui, Laura Efurd; and Kristen
Putnam, MSW.
Tien Bui is Vice President of Sales and Marketing at ViroLogic,
Inc., a South San Francisco, California-based biotechnology
company advancing individualized medicine by discovering,
developing, and marketing innovative products to guide and
improve the treatment of serious viral diseases such as AIDS
and hepatitis.
Denise Albano serves on the board of Edgewood Services for
Children and Families; is a member of the Mayor's Office Task
Force on Ending the Sexual Exploitation of Youth; and was
Supervising Director of Programs at Larkin Street Youth Services
for more than eight years.
Laura Efurd is Director of Policy and Leadership Initiatives
for the Community Technology Foundation of California. She
served as Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy Director
of the White House Office of Public Liaison in the Clinton
Administration.
Kristen Putnam, MSW is Principal of Putnam Community Investment
Consulting, which provides philanthropic advising, program
development, and evaluation services for private foundations,
including The California Endowment, the California HealthCare
Foundation and Blue Shield of California Foundation. She also
serves on the board of Horizons Foundation.
A&PI Wellness Center educates, supports, empowers, and
advocates for Asian and Pacific Islander (A&PI) communities,
particularly A&PIs living with or at-risk for HIV/AIDS.
Founded in 1987 as a grassroots response to the HIV/AIDS crisis
in communities of color, it is the oldest nonprofit organization
in North America targeting A&PI communities around sexual
health and HIV/AIDS services. A&PI Wellness Center is
based in San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood and
operates an office in downtown Oakland; provides services
regionally, statewide, and nationally; and maintains linkages
with non-governmental organizations throughout Asia and the
Pacific.
