Asian & Pacific Islander Wellness Center Names Jan Masaoka
Chair of its Board of Directors

Asian & Pacific Islander Wellness Center (A&PI Wellness
Center) today announced that Jan Masaoka has been elected
as Chair of the agency's Board of Directors.
Masaoka is executive director of CompassPoint Nonprofit Services
in San Francisco and a nationally recognized nonprofit leader.
Masaoka is also the author of Best of the Board Café,
a handbook for nonprofit board members. From 1999 through
2004, she was named one of the "Fifty Most Influential
People" in the nonprofit sector nationwide, and in January
2003 was named "Nonprofit Executive of the Year"
by NonProfit Times. Masaoka's work at CompassPoint focuses
on boards of directors, nonprofit finance, and the development
of strategic business and fundraising plans.
A&PI Wellness Center’s mission is to educate, support,
empower, and advocate for A&PI communities – particularly
A&PIs living with or at-risk for HIV/AIDS. A&PI Wellness
Center is the oldest non-profit HIV/AIDS services organization
in North America targeting A&PI communities.
