A&PI Wellness Center Now Offers Oral HIV Testing in San
Mateo County

Asian & Pacific Islander Wellness Center (A&PI Wellness
Center) now offers free, confidential, and anonymous standard
oral HIV antibody testing in San Mateo County, with results
available in one week. Tests are available by appointment
at the North County Health Center, Room 108, 380 90th Street,
Daly City, on the second and fourth Monday of the month. For

A&PI Wellness Center also offers free, confidential,
and anonymous rapid oral (results available in one hour) and
standard oral HIV antibody testing at its San Francisco office,
located at 730 Polk Street, Fourth Floor in San Francisco's
Tenderloin neighborhood. Rapid HIV testing is available every
Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., by appointment only. To schedule
a rapid HIV test appointment, call 415.292.3420 x304. Standard
oral HIV testing is available on a drop-in basis every Wednesday
from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. No blood is drawn during either test,
and both are pain-free.
A&PI Wellness Center provides counseling throughout the
testing process, in Cantonese, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Japanese,
and English. Interpretation services are available for other
Asian and Pacific Islander languages.
A&PI Wellness Center's mission is to educate, support,
empower, and advocate for A&PI communities – particularly
A&PIs living with or at-risk for HIV/AIDS. A&PI Wellness
Center is the oldest non-profit HIV/AIDS services organization
in North America targeting A&PI communities. The organization
will launch a nationwide anti-stigma campaign on Thursday,
May 19 with The First Annual National Asian & Pacific
Islander HIV/AIDS Awareness Day and concurrent events in San
Francisco, Washington, DC, Chicago, Honolulu, Boston, and
Los Angeles.
